A Sampler
If you don’t have time to sample the tracks below this compilation should give you a good taste. Enjoy!
Jazz – My Favorite Style & What I Do Best
The first two songs are from one of my favorite collaborations since moving to the Yukon. It is a jazz trio featuring myself, Daniel Janke & Jay Burr. The trio was called Upside and unfortunately I don’t remember the song names which were composed by Daniel hence the naming. Enjoy! This is some of my better playing.
The next two are from a more recent installment of the Daniel Janke Trio featuring myself, Daniel Janke & Jon Heaton. The first is a fast uptempo swing. This one is about loose energy.
This is an original ballad Daniel wrote. I start with tala wands then move
to brushes.
Styles & Grooves
This is an excerpt from a track I did for the Caribou Commons Project. It has
a double shuffle type feel with a marching type snare section at the end.
Drum Solos
This was a track I did for the Caribou Commons Project. The idea/feeling behind
this solo was to interpret a peaceful, grazing caribou herd on the arctic plain
being descended upon by a swarm of biting insects. This causes the herd to stampede
in order to seek relief. The solo aims to depict the stages of the herd: calm,
irritation, stampede, then a return to a silent plain with the herd now gone.
